BISD purchases 70-acre tract of land On May 20, Boerne ISD announced the purchase of a 70-acre tract of land south of Boerne, located off I-10 and Old Freder- icksburg Road. According to a news release, the land will allow the district to approach future growth proactively. The details The property does not have a specific use, but district staff will evaluate options for the property, including a potential new school or athletic complex. During the May 12 board of trustees meeting, district staff presented enrollment projections over the next 10 years, highlight- ing potential needs for campus expansions across the district. The BISD community will have opportunities to provide input on the land use, according to the news release.

financial and operations officer, said BISD has the lowest funding per student compared to other San Antonio districts. Trustees agreed that teachers and staff deserved more compensation. Board President Kristi Schmidt highlighted that BISD is one of the only districts in the state to receive an A-rating from the Texas Education Agency. “Our teachers deserve equitable pay for working as hard as they are, and being A-rated and compet- ing with neighboring districts that are F-rated. Upon VATRE approval, the starting teacher sal- ary would increase to $60,000, instead of $55,142. If a VATRE is not approved, Scott said the district will likely face a minor deficit in the upcoming school year.

Boerne ISD reviews future enrollment projections On May 12, the Boerne ISD Board of Trustees dis- cussed future district growth and where potential facility needs will arise over the next ten years. The overview reach capacity by 2027-28, while Voss is not antic- ipated to reach its capacity within the next decade.

Over the next 10 years, district officials anticipate reaching capacity at several campuses.
