Venu, the owner and developer behind the McKinney Sunset Amphitheater, is now targeting a completion date in 2027 instead of 2026. The big picture McKinney City Council members approved an amendment to the city’s economic development agreement with the company during a Jan. 6 meeting. The amendment includes an updated construction timeline for the Sunset Amphitheater project and other modications to the original agreement that was approved in 2024. McKinney City Council members approved an amendment to the city’s development agreement with the hotel developer during a Jan. 6 meeting. The developer, listed as Craig Ranch Luxury Hotel SPE Owner LP in city documents, is seeking an extension to obtain its equity nancing for the project, according to a city document. Construction commencement and comple- tion deadlines are being extended by 120 days.

Construction must now start by April 30, 2027, and nish by Aug. 31, 2029, according to the amend- ment document. The original agreement, approved by council members in June, required construction to start by Dec. 31, 2026, and nish by April 30, 2029.
About the project The project, which was formally announced in June, is being developed through a partnership between Ashford Inc., Craig International and Horizon Capital Partners. The development plans for an 18-story building including 45 for-sale con- dominiums that are constructed above the hotel.

More details The new schedule includes target completion dates for multiple components of the amphithe- ater, including construction of the main stage and parking garage.
