McKinney ISD sets 2026-27 academic year calendar
3 campuses to see $6.8M investment
McKinney ISD students will return to school for the 2026-27 school year Aug. 13. What you need to know The district’s board of trustees approved the next academic calendar at its Jan. 20 meeting. In creating the calendar, the district obtained feedback from principals, staff, students, teachers and parents, per district documents. The calendar reflects various considerations including state mandates, required testing dates, holiday obser- vances, professional learning for staff and impact to instruction, according to district documents. “This calendar reflects a careful balance between instructional quality, staff planning needs, family considerations and state require- ments,” Assistant Superintendent of Communica- tions Shelly Spaulding said. Changes are coming to three campuses as renovation projects kick off this summer. MISD trustees approved spending nearly $6.86 million on upgrades to school facilities at a January meeting. The details The funding for all three projects will come from the 2021 bond, according to district documents. Work at Bennett Elementary School will include plumbing, fire alarm system replace- ment and other miscellaneous repairs. Work at McKinney Boyd High School will include new plumbing, millwork, drywall, framing and other miscellaneous repairs. Work at Evans Middle School will include painting, doors, bleachers and general construction.
