Klein ISD swears in 2 trustees, appoints ocers In December, Klein ISD ocials swore in one returning trustee and one newcomer after each candidate ran unopposed in the Nov. 7 election. The details During the board’s Dec. 11 meeting, district ocials swore in Dustin Qualls to serve as the new Position 1 trustee. The spot was previously held by Georgan Reitmeier, who opted not to run for re-election. “I am extremely happy to be here,” Qualls said. “This has been a 10-year-plus dream of mine to be able to represent the community and work with the leaders of Klein ISD.” Returning as Position 2 trustee, Doug James was also sworn in Dec. 11. James was rst elected to the board in 2017. “Thank you to the community for your unwaver- ing support,” James said.

Spring ISD approves 202425 calendar On Dec. 5, Spring ISD’s board of trustees unanimously voted to approve the district’s recommended instructional calendar Option A for the 2024-25 school year. In a nutshell According to SISD leaders, the approved calendar will include: • A start date of Aug. 14, 2024 for students • An end date of May 30, 2025 for students • Summer school held from June 5-July 2, 2025 • A student holiday on Election Day, Nov. 5, 2024, to allow students of age to vote Prior to Dec. 5, two calendar choices were presented to the public for consideration and voting was held online until Nov. 29.

Following the swearing-in ceremony, the board unanimously approved new ocers for 2024. Position 6 trustee Cathy Arellano, Position 4 trustee Dustin Creager and James were appointed to serve as board president, vice president and secretary, respectively. Those positions were previously held by Position 7 trustee Rob Ellis, Arellano and Creager. The background KISD is governed by a seven-member board of trustees. Each member is elected to an at-large position for three years in a nonpartisan election.
