Flood Control District embarks on next phase of Cypress Creek
Batch 4 project sites Batch 4 of the Major Maintenance of Cypress Creek and its Tributaries project is comprised of 4 linear miles across eight channels.
The Harris County Flood Control District has begun work on Batch 4 of the Major Maintenance of Cypress Creek and its Tributaries project, officials announced Dec. 4. In a nutshell The $60 million 2018 flood bond project aims to restore channel conveyance throughout the watershed, and will be completed in batches, or groups of smaller projects. Batches 1 and 2 were completed in late 2022, while Batch 3 began in summer 2022 and will be completed in summer 2024. Work on Batch 4—a $13.68 million project comprised of 4 linear miles across eight channels— began in December and will wrap up in two years. The details Work will include sediment removal, integrating 55,000 tons of crushed concrete “riprap” material to help stabilize the channels and replacing 5,500 linear feet of storm sewer outfall conduits.
