School ratings to be released on Sept. 28
following months of revisions to the accountability system. Zooming In The A F accountability system was established during the 2017 legislative session, under House Bill 22. Ratings are based on a variety of factors, including the annual State of Texas Assess- ments of Academic Readiness; academic growth; high school graduation rates; and how prepared students are for college, a career or the military. On Sept. 28, A F scores for schools and districts will be posted on www.txschools.gov. The TEA also redesigned the STAAR in 2023 “to better align with classroom instruction.”
At the beginning of each school year, the Texas Education Agency rates public schools and districts based on student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps for at-risk students. Indi- vidual campuses and districts receive A F scores, which are meant to hold schools account- able and inform Texans about student performance. Scores for the 2022-23 school year will be released Sept. 28,
