MEETINGSWE COVER NUMBER TOKNOW in Pearland this spring. 4 CITY HIGHLIGHTS FRIENDSWOOD The city of Friendswood has progressed on several flood control projects. The new facilities will be unveiled Clear Creek utility relocation, a $1.5 million project, has finished its engineering design and had its permits approved. The $3.5 million Forest Bend detention basin project had its engineering plans approved as well. It is expected the council will award a contract in April or May with construction taking about 10 months. The FM 1959 detention basin is now being estimated to cost around $38 million despite the original estimate being $30 million to $36 million. The detention basin, located near the border of Friendswood and Pearland, would reduce the risk of flooding for Friendswood as well as providing recreational opportunities.

PEARLAND The newWest Pearland Library, Phase 2 of the Sports Complex at Shadow Creek Ranch, Fire Station No. 4, and the Shari D. Coleman Animal Shelter and Adoption Center will hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies in March and April, according to a press release. The $21.89 millionWest Pearland Library, which will be located at the northwest corner of Shadow Creek Parkway and Kirby Drive, is expected to hold its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. April 9, according to the release. The city will hold the ribbon-cutting for Phase 2 of the Sports Complex at Shadow Creek Ranch on March 12 at 9 a.m. It cost $10.02 million. The city will also host the ground- breaking ceremony for the all-inclusive playground at the sports complex. Lastly, both the $8.32 million Fire Station No. 4 and
