The $2 million project is funded through the 2019 voter- approved parks bond and 2021 capital improvement project funds. Expansion construction is expected to finish in June. 250 COUNTY HIGHLIGHT WILLIAMSON COUNTY Precinct 2 Commissioner Cynthia Long received the 2022 Road Hand Award Feb. 7 from the Texas Department of Transportation. The award is TxDOT’s “highest tribute to citizens who have freely given their time, energy, support and vision toward accomplishing important transportation programs or projects in their communities, their region or the entire state.” Long has been the Precinct 2 commissioner since 2007 and is the current Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization board chair.

Voters do not approve bond propositions based on specific projects, but voters approve buckets of funds for project types, such as park or road projects. The total bond cost includes additional fund- ing for inflation and cost escalation over time. In today’s dollars, the program would cost $125.3 million. Additionally, the bond will not require a property tax rate increase, city Finance Director Kent Meredith said. Bonds are repaid through the interest and sinking part of property taxes.

CEDAR PARK Voters will consider a $158.8 million bond package in May. Cedar Park City Council unanimously approved a resolution Feb. 10 to include the bond program in the May 7 election. The approved program is based on the recommendation of a citizen bond advisory task force, which presented its findings to council in January. The $158.8 million bond will include three propo- sitions: $86.6 million for transportation projects, $42.2 million for parks and recreation projects, and $30 million for a public safety

Crystal Falls Golf Club renovations planned

Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center breaksground

LEANDER The driving range at city- owned Crystal Falls Golf Club, 3400 Crystal Falls Pkwy., Leander, will be renovated to improve the facilities. The $840,000 project will improve the driving range to “widen the tee box, lengthen the drive, eliminate hazardous berms and regrade the range to deter ponding and improve water runoff,” according to the city. Leander City Council awarded an $840,000 contract for the renovations Feb. 7 with Fleetwood Services. The project is expected to be complete by the end of June.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY Officials broke ground on a

15,000-square-foot expansion to the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center in Georgetown on Feb. 11. The new facility will be con- nected to the existing center by a breezeway. The WCCAC facility will be home to crisis services, foren- sic interviews, family advocacy rooms, a multidisciplinary hub and an outdoor play area.

The WCCAC is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of services for children who have experienced physical or sexual abuse, or witnessed domestic abuse or violent crime. According to the WCCAC, the organization has reached capacity at the existing facility in Georgetown.
