Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, incumbent Ann Snyder and Bob Milner win 2-year board of directors seats The Woodlands elections yield winners for three positions

Interfaith of The Woodlands advisory board member, and Montgomery County Food Bank board member. She has previously worked in The Woodlands community as a member of the Conroe ISD board of trustees, chairman of the chamber board of directors, member of The Woodlands United Methodist Church minis- try staff, and president and chief executive officer of Interfaith of The Woodlands and Interfaith Community Clinic. “Thank you,” Snyder said in an email statement on election night. “That is the best way I know to express my heartfelt gratitude and true honor at being re-elected to The Woodlands Township. As I have always tried to do, I promise to con- tinue to listen, and then act on behalf of the residents. Our wonderful home- town has a bright future, and I am thrilled to be a part of its leadership.” In the race for Position 7, Milner received the most votes, with a combined total from Montgomery and Harris counties of 6,318 votes, or 45.95% of the total. Walt Lisiewski received 2,911 votes, or 21.17%; while Andy DuBois received 2,969 votes, or 21.69%; and David Cassidy received 1,553 votes, or 11.29% of the total. “I am humbled and excited by the voice of the residents,” Milner said. “As their steward, I look forward to working with the other board mem- bers as we move forward in collab- oration with all of those whom we share the responsibility of leading and guiding the residents of The Wood- lands into the future. I plan to begin to immerse myself immediately and gain as much additional knowledge as I can about the key issues important to this community and its residents, building relationships with the many numbers of entities and parties who engage in so many ways.” Milner stated in response to questions from Community Impact Newspaper in September that he owns several out-of-state automotive dealerships and several businesses in Montgomery County. Results will be canvassed at a Nov. 15 special meeting at 4 p.m. at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands.

The Nov. 5 election for three seats on The Woodlands Township board of directors yielded two new board mem- bers and an incumbent re-elected to office for the two-year seats, according to unofficial results on election night. Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, incum- bent Ann K. Snyder and Bob Milner received the most votes in races for positions 5, 6 and 7, respectively. All results are unofficial until canvassed. With both Montgomery and Harris counties reporting votes for The Woodlands Township board Position 5, Sekula-Gibbs won with 7,040 votes, or 48.4% of the total. Rashmi Gupta received 4,230, or 29.1% of votes; and Walter Cooke received 3,266, or 22.5%. According to information provided by the candidates in questionnaires from Community Impact Newspaper , Sekula-Gibbs’ previous experience includes serving out the remainder of a term of U.S. Rep. Tom Delay in 2005. She was also elected to the Houston City Council three times and ran a dermatology practice for 30 years. “I feel good, and we’ve worked very, very hard for the results to be coming in the way they are,” Sekula-Gibbs said late on election night Nov. 5. She attributed the favorable turnout to several factors. “I think the fact so many of the people who work very hard got behind me, like [state Rep.] Steve Toth and Gordy Bunch and a number of direc- tors on the board got behind me very early. It was very important, and it was very meaningful for the commu- nity. Having those leaders come out and endorse me was critical, and I appreciate that very much,” she said. Snyder will retain Position 6 on The Woodlands Township board of direc- tors. Among Montgomery and Harris county voters, Snyder received 11,412 votes, or 79.16% of the total. Challeng- ers Alan Richel, Louis Granados and Tom Chumbley received 1,376, 687 and 942 votes, respectively. This will be Snyder’s third term on the board. She also currently serves as a Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital board member, The Wood- lands Area Chamber of Commerce executive leadership board member, BY ANDREWCHRISTMAN, VANESSA HOLT AND BEN THOMPSON
