Construction underway on 2 newhealth care clinics
Two new health care clinics are being built in The Woodlands area in 2022 with the Creekside Park Med- ical Plaza and a 20,000-square-foot Memorial Hermann Primary Care Clinic planned at 1890 Research Forest Drive in Shenandoah being developed by the Howard Hughes Corp. “Health care is obviously still a growing business sector in The Wood- lands,” said Jim Carman, president of the Houston region for the Howard Hughes Corp. A news release from Dec. 7 states in addition to primary care, services at the Memorial Hermann clinic will include endocrinology, sports medi- cine, virtual medicine and lab services. pediatrics, imaging, ophthalmology, oncology and dentistry. Construction on the Memorial Hermann Care Clinic began in late December with Creekside Park Med- ical Plaza beginning early January. Carman said both projects will be completed and operating in 2023. The new facilities reect the region’s growth in the health care sector in recent years. In 2020 and 2021, the health care industry was the largest employment sector among
major nonretail employers in The Woodlands, according to The Wood- lands Economic Development Part- nership. In 2020, health care overtook the energy sector, and education was the second largest sector in 2021. “When a community is growing, ... you hope that the two sectors that recognize and address the needs of the population—health care and education—are No. 1 and No. 2,” said Gil Staley, chief executive ocer for The Woodlands Area EDP.
