Transitional housing project sees progress Crisis Center of Comal County is making prog- ress on its transitional housing facility. “The importance of this center is to give a home to those who lost their home, and a hope of reestablishing their own permanent place that they can call home without fear of violence,” Chief Executive Ocer Julie Strentzsch said. Latest update The three-story transitional housing project will have 26 units, Strentzsch said. There will be ve units for individuals needing shelter with large families on the second oor and 13 individual living units. The Center will also have an embedded SANE room, which is a sexual assault nursing examina- tion room. This allows individuals to undergo a forensic examination if they prefer not to visit the hospital or police department.
Local nonprot’s $8M expansion completed Connections Individual and Family Service has completed its new 28,000-square-foot main campus at 1414 W. San Antonio St. Latest update The nonprot organization works to sup- port at-risk youth in Comal County. Ocials celebrated the project’s completion with a ribbon-cutting Oct. 9. The expansion includes an emergency shelter for children ages 5 to 17 and a transitional living program for 15 to 23-year-olds getting ready to exit foster care.
The Center is the temporary name for the facility, which is located behind Zoeller Funeral Home.
