Township supports pathway between Harper’s Landing, Windvale areas

THE WOODLANDS The Woodlands Township board of directors approved a resolution May 24 supporting a grant appli- cation to the Texas Department of Transportation for a shared- use path across Hwy. 242 that would connect the communities of Harper’s Landing and Windvale. After scaling back a TxDOT Hwy. 242 expansion project due to resident concerns over safety, the township began seeking alternatives for constructing a POTENTIAL PATHWAY The Woodlands Township is exploring a grant opportunity for a project to build a connecting pathway.
SAN JACINTO RIVER AUTHORITY The board of directors of the San Jacinto River Authority accepted the resignation of General Manager Jace Houston in a May 25 special meeting.

The river authority oversees water qual- ity and distribution in the San Jacinto basin as well as the operation of the Lake Conroe dam. Houston was originally appointed by the SJRA board of directors in 2007. Houston outlined his decision in an email to SJRA sta citing House Bill 1540 that—under an amendment that was sub- sequently removed by the Texas Senate— would have required the board to appoint a new general manager. Houston said in a statement his last day will be June 30. The nal bill was sent to the governor’s oce May 30.
