FBISD approves 2026-27 instructional calendar Fort Bend ISD trustees approved a slightly altered calendar for the 2026-27 school year following community feedback. What parents need to know The 2026-27 calendar, approved at the Jan. 29 board meeting, runs from Aug. 11-May 27, 2027, and adds an extra instruction day. The calendar also includes professional learning and teacher planning days embedded throughout the year, where teachers can com- plete their required continuing education hours. Looking back A presentation by district staff at the Jan. 12 agenda review meeting showed community members preferred the proposed calendar to two other options, with the preferred calendar receiving votes of “favor” or “strongly in favor”

The program is open to incoming kinder- garten students with intentions to continue through the fifth grade, officials announced in a Jan. 29 news release. The program aims to help students grow problem-solving skills, expand cultural awareness and prepare for college and future careers, per the release.
