House District 26 includes auent areas with lots of develop- ment. With an area like Katy that has so much ongoing develop- ment and new businesses coming in, where does the district go from here to continue that trend of strong development, and how would you facilitate that?

What is the biggest issue facing Harris County right now, and how do you plan to address it?

The largest issue facing Harris County is pub- lic safety. We need to ensure all components of our criminal justice system, from patrol and community policing to arrest, prosecu- tion and sentencing, work together to allow us to clear the criminal court case backlog and guarantee that those who hurt their neighbors can no longer do harm.

We have many challenges, but there are two overriding issues: safety and aordability. Like too many of us, I have been a victim of crime. I will work to fund law enforcement, increase neighborhood patrols, invest in crime-ghting technology, and prevent crime by interrupting the cycle of violence. I will also work to make life more aordable by cutting the tax rate and bringing down costs for things like health care and housing.

More than 1,000 people are moving to Texas daily, many of them to Katy. Businesses and families understand Texas is a state where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. I will continue to work to cut property taxes, ensure our infrastructure keeps pace with new growth and Texas continues to have the essential aspects that draw people here: safe communities, access to education, high-quality health care and a resilient econ- omy where families can succeed.

Creating better policies that allow small busi- nesses to continue to expand their rewards and keeping Katy’s public education system among the top in the state with funding of critical resources is key to the community prospering. These two elements are what have made House District 26 so attractive to so many looking for opportunity and excel- lent public education for their children.
