What they’re saying
Looking ahead
In Proposition A, campuses across the district are planned to receive improvements, with Dobie Junior High planned for renovations. Mosley said many areas of the school still have the original finishes from the 1970s, and while ren- ovations have been completed over the years, some areas of the campus have not been addressed. The Dobie Junior High project will include painting, wall coverings, flooring, lighting, ceiling tiles and restroom renovations. The project will also include the installation of a synthetic turf playing field. “[Dobie] is very small for a junior high campus,” Mosley said. “Because of the site size, the playing field is the only outdoor area available for student physical education and play. The turf field will pro- vide all students a safe and consistent play surface.” Alongside updates at Dobie Junior High, all campuses would receive safety and security upgrades, which would bring campuses to current safety standards.
Mosley said the goal is a quick construction timeline. In the event of bond savings, projects excluded from the bond package will be revisited. He also said construction could start as early as the spring of 2027, with many projects beginning construction in the summer of 2027. If the bond passes, the district’s goal is to have all projects completed by the summer of 2031.
“You really don’t appreciate where the hurt is until you have to build a finite list of unfunded priorities.”
