Grapevine-Colleyville ISD OKs $2.95M for facilities

Carroll ISD officials apply for TEA waiver Carroll ISD trustees voted to approve submitting a request to the Texas Education Agency to waive the need for any makeup days because of the winter weather-related closures Jan. 26-28. What you need to know The waiver is pending approval from the TEA, and CISD staff and students will not be required to make up the three missed work days, if granted. CISD budgets two days worth of instruc- tional minutes per school year in prepa- ration for potential missed days related to health, weather or safety, according to board documents. The waiver addresses the third missed day and seeks permission to not have any makeup days, which would be March 13 and/or April 6, if denied.

Two Grapevine-Colleyville ISD facilities will undergo roughly $3 million in renovations follow- ing trustee approval at a Jan. 22 board meeting. The details The career and technical culinary program at Colleyville Heritage High School will receive about $2.3 million to install a prep kitchen and kitchen work area, according to district documents. It will cost about $591,000 to replace the roof of the facility services office and a small warehouse, which has leaked, GCISD Chief Operations Officer Paula Barbaroux said. Both facilities are located near the GCISD administration building. “It has been leaking for quite some time and has been in need of replacement,” Barbaroux said. The projects are part of the 2024 bond package, which voters approved in May 2024, according to the district’s website.

Looking ahead Both projects are scheduled to take place over the summer, between late May and early August, after the 2025-26 school year, per district documents. The contract for the work requires substantial completion of the project by Aug. 2, according to district documents.
