TXDOT PROGRESSING WITHUS 380ALIGNMENT PLAN The previous phase of the project wid- ened the roadway from Lovers Lane to just west of CR 26, including the front- age roads and overpasses at the Dallas North Tollway and Preston Road. The Texas Department of Transporta- tion said planned work to widen US 380 from just west of CR 26 to Loop 288 could begin in mid-2021. The project would widen the 15-mile stretch to six lanes with overpasses at A FM 720, B Navo Road, C FM 423, D Legacy Drive and E Teel Parkway. TxDOT has estimated construction costs at $140 million.

and columns at those intersections, U-turns and right lanes of city streets beneath the SRT will be closed from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. during the day and from 8 p.m.-5 a.m. at night throughout the timeline of the project. Work on the project began in Jan- uary 2019 and is slated to be nished before the end of 2021. As widening work at the inter- sections is completed in Frisco, full closures will be required to place beams, decks and concrete for the planned fourth lanes. Those full clo- sures will be preceded by a message board notifying local drivers and the distribution of trac advisories and

detour maps. The project will also see the existing eastbound Parkwood Bou- levard and Preston Road exit ramps replaced. However, drivers merging from the Dallas North Tollway will continue to have access to enter the new eastbound Preston Road exit ramp or the eastbound SRT. NTTA crews will also add auxiliary lanes at various locations throughout the corridor to improve areas for ramp merging. Adding a fourth lane to the tollway is part of NTTA’s continuing eort to improve traveling conditions for motorists.

The Sam Rayburn Tollway Fourth Lane Project will aect trac travel- ing both directions throughout the 26-mile tollway, which extends from west of Denton Tap Road in Coppell to US 75 in McKinney. As part of the $200 million project, bridge widening will be required as a fourth lane is added throughout the corridor. In the Frisco area, North Texas Tollway Authority crews are working to widen bridges over the Parkwood Boulevard, Preston Road, Hillcrest Road-Rasor Boulevard and Coit Road intersections. A solution to alleviate congestion on US 380 in McKinney has yet to be identied. The Texas Department of Transporta- tion, which is overseeing the project, recommended a bypass alignment last May despite concerns raised by city and county ocials. TxDOT’s recommended alignment is estimated to cost $2.6 billion, according to documents. TxDOT ocials said the project’s feasibility study included an initial look at US 380 in Frisco, and more information will be available about impacts to the roadway once the environmental process is complete.
