Eanes ISD discusses future facilities bond The Eanes ISD board of trustees is consid- ering forming a Bond Advisory Committee ahead of a potential 2027 bond to complete districtwide renovations. Remember this? Members of EISD’s Long-Range Facility Planning Committee first presented its list of projects during the May 20 board meeting. Plans included the modernization or full replacement of several campuses, plus the closure and repurposing of Eanes Elemen- tary School. District administration previously consid- ered a May 2026 bond, but Chief Financial Officer Chris Scott said this timeline is likely not realistic now. Instead, the board could go for a bond in either November 2026 or May 2027.

“The RM 620 South project was among several projects deferred by [the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization] in 2020 to prioritize con- struction on I-35,” Luján said. In August, the Texas Transportation Commission approved TxDOT’s 10-year transportation plan, which granted $249.3 million in funding to the RM 620 project. Funding is expected to be given between fiscal years 2026-29, according to TxDOT. What else? The city of Lakeway, as part of its $17.5 million transportation bond passed in 2022, paid for 10% of the right-of-way acquisition for RM 620’s widening, for a maximum of $3.2 million. Although costs have gone up for TxDOT on the project since it was introduced, Lakeway’s share has not increased, City Manager Joseph Molis said.
