Pak Medical Group Medical group brings collaboration, integration to health care D r. David Pak, a primary care physician who specializes in geriatric care, said he fell in love with New Braunfels 25 years ago BY SIERRA MARTIN
The Pak Medical Group recently opened the Center of Excellence on Hwy 46 West.
Sunrise Total Mind and Wellness in New Braunfels said joining the Pak Medical Group helped to increase psychiatric care access in the community. “I think right now we’re really trying to work together to make sure that not only do our patients know we’re here, but other providers know we’re here, and we can work together to provide that whole type of care for the patient,” Jacobs said. Pak said long wait times inuenced the decision to work in sync with other practices. “It wasn’t my intent to have specialists, but there was such a huge shortage of specialists; sometimes there was six or seven months waiting time, and I said, ‘That’s just not acceptable,’” Pak said. Dr. Ryan Armour said one of the advantages of working with other specialists in the Pak Medical Group is having integrated patient medical records. Dr. Erin Wright is the medical director for Extensiv- ists of Texas and works with the Pak Medical Group as a hospitalist. She helps to keep a clear line of commu- nication among the multiple doctors who may treat the same patient. “[The communication Pak Medical Group has helped foster] is very unique,” Wright said. “So we have really changed the culture for medical care in New Braunfels.”

during the 1998 ood, when he was inspired by the sense of community and pride people took in taking care of their neighbors. “I knew that at some point New Braunfels was going to be home, … and that’s the main inspiration why I wanted to try to bring world-class health care to the community that [my wife and I] live in and we love,” Pak said. Pak leads the Pak Medical Group, which partners with numerous local health care groups in order to improve access to care in New Braunfels. Physi- cians work together to make patient diagnoses and provide treatment plans for patients.
