The year-round enrollment is in effect for the remainder of the 2018- 19 school year, said Allison McClain, TISD director of communications and marketing. Applications to enroll in TISD for the 2019-20 school year will open in the spring. Schools of choice include: Creekview, Decker Prairie, Rosehill, Timber Creek and Tomball elementary schools; Tomball Intermediate School; and Creekside Park and Tomball junior high schools. Parents can list the choice of schools in order of preference on their child’s application. DISTRICT NEWS Magnolia ISD launched a series of parent and community engagement nights in December with more information sessions planned this spring in January, February and April. The series, called TEAM Up—Together Educating All Magnolia ISD—will feature topics such as social media; drugs, alcohol and vaping; and depression and anxiety. 3 Lone Star College-Creekside Center Lone Star College-Creekside Center will introduce public library services in January to meet community demand, said Janna Hoglund, director of the LSC-Tomball Community Library. Programs will initially focus on early literacy with more library services added over time. The Creekside Center will offer a small collection of children’s books and story times each Monday for toddlers and preschool-age children, respectively. Story times begin Jan. 28. The center will also issue Harris County Public Library cards, and patrons can request materials from other HCPL locations for pick-up in Creekside. MAGNOLIA ISD HIGHER EDUCATION

Washington Junior High School may become the new site of the district’s academic alternative and disciplinary alternative education program high school. District officials announced their intentions last September to move Hauke Academic Alternative High School into the building in August 2020. DISTRICT NEWS A strategic planning committee and Tomball ISD officials began crafting a new five-year strategic plan for the district in November. A strategic plan guides the long-term future of the district. The previous strategic plan was set to carry the district through 2020 but was completed early. The TOMBALL ISD

DISTRICT NEWS Conroe ISD’s board of trustees reorganized during its Dec.18 board meeting, following the results of the Nov. 6 election. Datren Williams now serves as president, Skeeter Hubert serves as first vice president, Scott Moore serves as second vice president, Ray Sanders serves as secretary, Scott Kidd serves as assistant secretary, John Husbands serves as past president and Dale Inman serves as trustee. 1 Suchma Elementary School Conroe ISD officials expect to pick a scenario for rezoning the attendance boundaries around Suchma Elementary School in January. An attendance zone has not yet been announced as of press time; however, both scenarios are expected to reduce overcrowding at nearby elementary schools.
