Capital Metro appoints rst-ever police chief In an eort to increase safety for riders and transit operators, Capital Metro swore in its rst chief of police Aug. 26. What’s new? Eric Robins was appointed as Chief, along with Assistant Chief Joseph Rose and Captain Jeremy Benoit. The Transit Police Department will work along- side the agency’s public safety ambassadors and community intervention specialists to respond quickly to transit safety needs across the metro. Looking ahead CapMetro board Chair Jeery Travillion said the agency has been working with the union representing CapMetro drivers to increase safety for transit operators. The agency also has plans to increase security cameras on vehicles and facili- ties. CapMetro is looking to ll remaining positions on its Transit Police Department.
