The city expects to nish bridge design and permitting by summer, with construction to be completed by the end of 2027. The trail expansion and pedestrian bridge project will be funded by $6.8 million from a combination of the 2022 bond package, the Community Development Corp. and Williamson County funds, according to the city. Penniman-Morin said the pedestrian bridge will become a “landmark” for the city. “It’ll add a lot of safety but also just be a real welcome mat for the city,” Penniman-Morin said. “People driving north from Austin will be like, ‘Wow, I’m entering a new place, and it’s a place where people think it’s special.’” Across the street from Lakeline Park, two

Other residents said they appreciate the park’s gathering spaces but are looking forward to the possibility of more opportunities to be in nature. Anna Fugate-Downs and Ash Downs are part of the group organizing a Leander and Cedar Park Pride Fest at Lakeline Park in April. “It’s nice to know that there are really beautiful, robust parks outside of Austin, out here in the suburbs where you might not necessarily expect them to put that much e—ort in,” Fugate-Downs said.

“They’re just going to keep building and building in this area, so it’d be nice to have designated, beautiful nature areas,” resident Kim Crownover said. Crownover said she visits the park often with her family. “The playground’s great. I’m always looking for more nature trails, so that would be a huge plus,” Crownover said.
