Scheels targets August for Cedar Park opening Scheels announced on its website that the company will host a grand opening at its Cedar Park location on Aug. 29. Two-minute impact The 300,000-square-foot store will feature 75 specialty shops, a 65-foot indoor Ferris wheel, a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium and Ginna’s Café which will serve soups and sandwiches. Learn more The sporting goods store will be located in the 117-acre CedarView development, according to previous Community Impact reporting. The surrounding retail district will feature a mix of local and regional shops, restaurants and possibly entertainment venues. Another xture of the development will be NFM, formerly Nebraska Furniture Mart.
Genetic testing lab receives hiring grant The city of Austin approved an eco- nomic development incentive for 3billion US Inc.—a South Korean genetic testing company—for its rst U.S. branch, slated for northwest Austin near Cedar Park. The details The program will award $1,000 to 3billion for every job the company hires—up to $200,000 in total over a 10-year period. The company is expected to create 200 full-time jobs with an average salary of $95,000.
