What issues will you address in o ce?
My priorities would be to ensure (1) fair and secure elections, (2) e cient and accessible court administration and (3) reliable and accurate county and property records. I will work to make sure that all eligible residents have access to the voting process, free from intimidation, including accessible polling locations and well-trained election workers providing consistent and exceptional service. Together we can ensure fair and secure elec- tions and promote a healthy democracy.
My major focus will be to stop using any type of election machines. Machines can and will be hacked. People don’t trust the machines. We will return to sequentially numbered paper ballots, hand counted at precinct level on election day (not election week or election month) We will signi - cantly reduce absentee and mail-in voting. We will have forensic audits after every election.
Homelessness—Travis County had an op- portunity to lead and not be a rubber stamp for Austin’s failed policies. Mental illness and substance abuse are the twin problems driving our homeless crisis and must be addressed rst and foremost. The county should work with Austin to implement a uni ed location model with comprehensive services similar to Haven for Hope or Com- munity First Village.
I will stand up for civil rights like abortion care and election integrity. I’m working to make our community safer by improving access to mental health, a ordable housing and good jobs. We need to invest in new mental and behavioral health facilities and focus on diversion programs for nonviolent o enders before building new jail facilities. Finally, I’m ghting climate change and build- ing a more resilient community.
