Bandito’s o ers space for collectibles community
Bandito’s sells collectibles such as Funko Pop gurines, packs of trading cards, single trading cards, comic books, dice and more.
Paulette Jimenez and Josias Ocampo have created a strong network of collectibles enthusi- asts from far and wide since opening a physical collectibles store, Bandito’s, in 2023. The two hope to keep growing their community base and o ering an inclusive space for those getting started as well as seasoned collectors. How it happened Jimenez and Ocampo founded Bandito’s in 2021, selling and trading from their personal collection. The pair had joined the collectibles business before the pandemic and attended conventions across Texas, Seattle, Chicago and Portland. Jimenez said they garnered a group of regular customers and decided to open a storefront.
What’s special about it Jimenez said that since opening the shop, they have built a solid group of regulars. “It’s very community-oriented,” Jimenez said. “We get a lot of people that come to the shop and they stay here for hours just hanging out and meeting people. It’s almost like ‘Cheers,’ when you walk in somebody is bound to know you.” Jimenez said the support has existed since they opened. Following a break-in two weeks after opening, she said people ocked to the store in-person and on social media o ering support. “Austin is based on small business, and I feel like the community here is all about that, and they turned out for us,” Jimenez said.
