Prosper OKs traffic signal at First, Legacy Prosper residents will see a new traffic signal coming to the intersection of First Street and Legacy Drive as the city prepares for increased traffic ahead of the 2025-26 school year. Prosper Town Council on June 24 approved a $691,566 contract with Mels Electric LLC to install both a temporary and permanent traffic signal at the intersection. The details The intersection is part of a larger road improvement project expanding First Street from Stuber Elementary School to Dallas Parkway. While the temporary traffic signal is scheduled to finish in August, the instal- lation of the permanent traffic signal is estimated to finish in March 2026.

Celina City Council discussed possible zoning for dealerships at its meeting July 8. Council did not vote regarding the item. The details Dusty McAfee, Celina’s director of development services, said dealerships such as Chevy, Honda and GMC are actively looking to set up in Celina. Currently, new auto sales are only allowed by right in Celina’s industrial zoning districts. Every- where else, a dealership would need a specific use permit or be part of a planned development to operate, McAfee said. A lot of dealerships are wanting to open in the city along the Dallas North Tollway. “That is prime real estate in Celina,” McAfee said. The planning and zoning commission’s feedback

was that the land along the tollway should be preserved for higher value development. Ultimately, City Council members said they’d need to see proposed dealership plans to make a decision on where they should be allowed.
