The city of Katy and Katy Man- agement District No. 1 are part- nering to create a new reclaimed water system to provide irrigation water to the Katy Mills Mall and Katy Boardwalk District areas. The details The system is projected to pro- duce and use as much as 300,000 gallons per day in this first phase of the program, City Engineer David Kasper said. At full utiliza- tion, the reclaimed water system is capable of producing as much as 885,000 gallons per day, which Katy launching reclaimed water system
will be utilized as new users are added to the system. The Katy Reclaimed Water System includes a new treatment and pumping facility at the Katy Wastewater Treatment Plant, and 18,350 linear feet of new water lines up to 12-inches in diameter. Why it matters “Katy Mills has all these entrances so … we’re gonna con- solidate some of these entrances to make larger green spaces then we can irrigate and have nicer flowers and tree,” City Adminis- trator Byron Hebert said at the Jan. 29 State of the City luncheon. Looking ahead The plan is expected to begin construction this spring, Kasper said.

Texans Toro District coming near Katy An 83-acre sports and entertain- ment hub called the Toro District is coming to the Bridgeland commu- nity near Katy by 2029 as part of a public-private partnership between the Houston Texans, Howard Hughes Communities and Harris County. The details administrative space and a field- house, officials announced Feb. 25. Meanwhile, Harris County officials said they will construct an annex within the district to expand access to government services for northwest Harris County residents.
