Resort near Barton Creek preserve draws opposition Plans for a 70-acre luxury resort just outside Austin city limits are drawing local resistance. What’s happening
Luxury community adds new homes The second phase of Cayena Creekside’s luxury Southwest Austin housing commu- nity launched in March. The details The new addition from developer Hopper Communities brings 25 two- and three-story “modern, minimalist city homes” to the West Oak Hill area. Three- to four-bedroom floorplans start at $899,000 and all include garages, with select features like rooftop terraces and elevators. Phase 2 comes with an up to $20,000 incentive for use toward closing costs, according to Compass Real Estate. A model home is open every Saturday afternoon from 1-4 p.m. at 7907 Yellow Thistle Trail, Austin and more information is available at www.cayenacreekside.com.
The proposed hotel and residential White Rocks Austin development from local builder Chris Milan would feature a 10,000-seat amphitheater, 600 residences and 150-room hotel. The property off Hwy. 71 is surrounded by the Barton Creek Habitat Preserve, protected lands on the Barton Creek Watershed home to endangered species. The project is seeking wastewater approvals and appears to be a new iteration of the Violet Crown Amphitheater project, based on previous water permit requests. What they’re saying Officials in nearby Bee Cave formally opposed construction given concerns about local infra- structure and environmental impacts. Developers didn’t respond to requests for comment.
