Amazon resumes plans for Round Rock site Amazon resumed plans for a new warehouse and distribution center in Round Rock, more than a year after the company put the project on pause. What’s happening? Amazon will build a center near CR 172 and SH 45 in western portion of Round Rock, after the project was put on hold in May 2022, when the company deferred building activity to manage cost pressures. Bradley Dushkin, assistant director of planning and development services for the city of Round Rock, confirmed Oct. 24 that Amazon submitted a new zoning and annexation application the week prior. Old Settlers Park to see improvements Round Rock City Council approved an agreement Oct. 26 with Kimley-Horn to improve Old Settlers Park. The majority of construction will begin after August 2024. Project funding comes from the May 2023 bond election. What’s new? The improvements include: • Additional water features and parking at Rock’N River water park • A stage for special events • Replacement of Lakeview Pavilion • Six new sports fields and improvements at the Multipurpose Complex • Expansion of tennis and pickleball courts • New recreation center

manager of economic development, said the facility represents a preliminary $250 million in capital improvements to the property and that construction would not begin for another three to five years. Additional details provided in the application state the structure will be at least 120 feet in height. The property is not located within Round Rock city limits, but does lie within the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.
