Leander hears feedback on active adult programming

About 60 senior residents who participate in the Leander Parks and Recreation Department’s Active Adult Program gave input April 25 on what options they would like to see at the city’s new senior center, expected to open in summer. Two-minute impact The goal of the day was to learn what seniors want to see as part of the new senior center, Parks and Recreation Director Ashlea Boyle said. Boyle noted that approximately 60 of the 600 members of the Active Adult Program were present for the feedback forum. Leander Mayor Christine DeLisle was at the event and spoke with a number of seniors about their concerns and wishes for the center. “They love pickleball, so I hear that loud and clear,” she told Community Impact. DeLisle said one of the goals of the forum was to hear feedback on programming that will help city sta decide how to adapt to the high demand.

Alcoholics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Al Anon, Narcotics Anonymous and more. YHF President Demariee Anderson said the foundation had already added two additional 12-step meetings since moving into the building. “We’ve also noticed that a lot of our meetings have grown since we moved in,” Anderson said. About 3,000 meeting attendees come through the doors of the new building each month, Cromwell said.
