Board approves 2024-25 and 2025-26 calendars After receiving input from staff and the commu- nity, Northwest ISD board members approved both the 2024-25 and 2025-26 instructional calendars. The details Feedback on two calendar options, titled Option A and Option B, was given by a school calendar committee and by the community at large. To get community input, NISD officials created a survey. During her presentation to the board at the Dec. 11 meeting, Stephanie Espinosa, executive director of teaching and learning, said in that survey, Option A was chosen by an “overwhelming” 89%. Staff recommended Option A at the Dec. 11 board meeting, and the board approved that option on Jan. 8. Espinosa said the 2025-26 calendar is subject to change should state officials make changes to testing dates.
New member fills vacant Place 7 seat Keller ISD board members voted unani- mously to appoint Heather Washington to fill the vacant Place 7 seat Jan. 3. The backstory The Place 7 seat was held by Ruthie Keyes, who recently resigned after walking out of a Dec. 11 board meeting. “We’re happy to have Ms. Washington serve on the Keller ISD board of trustees,” Board President Charles Randklev said. “Our district is at a critical time, and this board needs a complete board [with] seven members to weigh in and help the district and the new superintendent navigate these issues as we move forward.” Washington said that she’s excited, honored and humbled to be appointed.
