Kings & Queens highlights homestyle Jamaican food Growing up in Jamaica, Warren Dyer helped his grandmother cook dinner for the families in his village. Now, he’s sharing his homestyle Jamaican food with the Pugerville community. Since 2019, Dyer has owned and operated KingsnQueens Jamaican Cuisine, a mobile food truck situated downtown next to Hanovers Draught Haus. What’s on the menu experimenting with more fusion dishes, such as his jerk chicken tacos and jerk turkey legs. The present Between partnering with local elementary schools and, most recently, vending at the Puger- ville Pride parade, Dyer said he has developed a loyal customer base.
The veggie plate comes with rice, peas, steamed veggies and plantains.
However, pandemic-related ination and mar- keting challenges have made it dicult to remain protable, Dyer said. Still, he hopes to open a brick-and-mortar location in Pugerville. “I pay to keep the doors open, but I love it,” Dyer said. “We love oering our food to people that have never tried it. Giving them that experi- ence is fullling.”
Options include traditional Jamaican fare from ackee and salt sh to jerk-style meats, oxtail, patties and curries. The menu includes several vegetarian options, and all the meats are sourced from halal-certied vendors, Dyer said. Dyer said he would like to continue
