The event is one of the largest local scale model contests in the United States and attracts competitors and vendors from across the U.S. and Mexico. The contest averages over 120 vendor tables and has over 500 models entered into the contest each year. Rae tickets are available for $5 for the chance to win model kits, paint sets, tools and books. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. $5 (admission). 375 S. Tickets include admission to the ballroom, dancing, refreshments and a keepsake for the daughters attending. Carriage rides are available for an additional charge. RETROMANIA COMIC CON NEW BRAUNFELS CIVICCONVENTION CENTER
The Heritage Event Co. is hosting the RetroMania comic con at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center. The comic con is a family-friendly event that gives people a chance to explore comic books, video games, VHS, records, apparel, original art and a large array of toy selections. Vendors will also be selling products and collectibles from classics such as Godzilla, King Kong, Pokemon and Power Rangers. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. for early VIP access and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for general admission. A certied instructor will show the beginner-level class the basic techniques of
target archery and handling a compound bow. Beginning in Prince Solms Park, the course will take runners around the gazebo downtown before venturing through Landa Park and crossing over the Guadalupe River into the historic Gruene District, eventually returning to Prince Solms Park to cross the nish line. A celebration will take place following the race featuring food and music. The half-marathon is partnering with the charity Pink Warrior Advocates, a nonprot that provides support to those who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. 711:30 a.m. $75-$95 (depending on when tickets are purchased).
