A Texas Department of Transpor- tation project on I-35 at FM 725 is on schedule to be completed in June. The construction consists of making improvements to the intersection, including operational turn lanes. TxDOT is also working on walls on the north and south turnaround. In June 2022, construction began on the $5.15 million project and that is utilizing state and federal funding. Construction on I-35 from FM 306 to the Hays-Comal county line is anticipated to be completed in early 2023, according to TxDOT. The project consists of ramp revisions, intersection operational improve- ments and the conversion of the frontage roads on Kohlenberg Road and Watson Lane to be one way in

FM 725 expansion project An estimated total of $20.98 million in projects funded by the Texas Depart- ment of Transportation to expand FM 725 in two phases will continue throughout 2023. The rst phase of the $10.38 million project to expand FM 725 began in December 2021 and is anticipated to be completed in late 2023, according to TxDOT. A portion of FM 725 from Zipp Road to FM 78 will widen the road from two to four lanes and install a median, side- walks and bike lanes as part of Phase 1. Next, construction to widen a sec- tion of FM 725 from Zipp Road to the Comal-Guadalupe county line will begin. The second section of the project is still in the design phase but is anticipated to take 36-42 months. Phase 2 is estimated to cost $10.6 million in TxDOT funding. The project is budgeted to cost $9.6 million with

70% of the cost eligible for funding from the city’s water/wastewater impact fee. Pipeline installation across Goodwin Lane and side streets has been completed. Pavement restoration will require short lane closures. The project is antic- ipated to wrap up in early 2024 and cost $9.6 million.
