Primrose School of Bee Cave celebrates 25 years of educating children through structured learning, play Sponsored by: Primrose School of Bee Cave Staff members at Primrose School of Bee Cave believe that who children become is as important as what they know. The holistic educational child- care program for children is play-based and serves ages 0-5 years old. The Bee Cave location was the first Primrose School in Austin and has served the community for the past 25 years. Primrose School has its own curriculum: Balanced Learning. This classroom method is research-informed and combines the best thinking of early learning philosophers like Montessori, Piaget, Gesell and Vygotsky. Each month at Primrose School, teachers focus on a different unit of learning and create themed activities for the children to work on. A 25-year legacy
Primrose School of Bee Cave is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Chief Operating Officer Jordan Owens said although the building has changed, the heart of the school is the same. “The building has gotten some improvements, such as kitchen updates, an additional teacher bathroom, fresh paint, less wallpaper, and solar panels,” Owens said. “However, all the magic inside is still very similar.”The school has been an integral part of the Bee Cave community over the years. Owens said the community has grown up around the school. “When Bee Cave opened it was in a pasture with nothing around,” she said. “A road even had to be paved to allow parents and teachers to get to the school.”
Franchise owner Christy Black said celebrating the 25th anniversary of the school means the world to her.“It means that as the second owner of the facility, I have great shoes to fill and a lot of responsibility to carry on into our future and the futures of our children in the area,” Black said. “Primrose has been leading the way in this community, being one of the first educational childcare centers in the area and the first one in Austin.” Community support People in Bee Cave have supported Primrose School and its growth over the years.“We have so many amazing families and team members who share our vision and values,” Owens said. In response to this support, Primrose School gives back through the scholarship fund supporting local high school seniors. “We were able to begin a $1000 scholarship fund this past year through the Lake Travis Education Foundation and we will continue to do so with the hopes of increasing this,” Black said. Primrose School of Bee Cave has a great relationship with Lake Travis ISD. “We try to support them in any way we can, including giving any LTISD teachers a break in tuition. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful dis- trict for our students to feed into,” she said.
Due to the school’s structured schedule, students at Primrose School are better prepared for the transition to kindergarten. Primrose School offers an option for a private kindergarten pro- gram, Black said. The program can be used in a traditional way where students go on to first grade at the end of the year, or it can be used as further preparation for kindergarten. Primrose School staff continuously receive positive feedback from teachers about their stu- dents. “We’ve heard time and time again that public school teachers always know when it’s a Primrose kiddo,” Black said.
