Several major road projects slated to begin in 2022

In keeping with rapid development and population growth in Pugerville, ocials are continuing to pushmajor transportation projects throughout the city forward in 2022. As part of a $101.7 million 2020 general obligation transportation bond, city sta are working to advance street overhauls, improvements and realignments. During a late November City Council meeting, sta updated ocials on the progress of those projects. Three key projects that will advance later this year include: 1 Upgrade of East Pecan Street The improvement of East Pecan Street will run from its intersection with SH 130 to Weiss Lane, and city information states preliminary designs intend to transform the section of road into a six-lane urban roadway with a raised center median. Other improvements will include construc- tion of a new bridge over SH 130, instal- lation of curbs and gutters, underground storm facilities, pedestrian facilities and utility relocation. The project has been in design since July and will be until February 2023. 3 Main Street extension Preliminary designs show the Main Street upgrade will extend the road and create a two-lane urban roadway from its eastern terminus at Railroad Avenue to Old Aus- tin-Hutto Road. Work for the project includes right-of-way acquisition as well as intersection improve- ments and utility relocation at Railroad, FM 685 and Old Austin-Hutto. The project has been in the design phase since July 2021 and will be until February 2023. Right-of-way acquisition and utility instal- lation is scheduled to begin June 2022 and conclude in November 2023. Timeline: July 2021-TBD Cost: TBD Funding source: city of Pugerville 2020 bond

Work for the project will turn the road into a three-lane urban collector roadway and includes installation of curbs and gutters, intersection and bridge improvements, street lighting, and installation of pedestri- an and bicycle facilities. Hutto residents can look forward to driving on a newly repaved Live Oak Street by the middle of 2022. Hutto City Council approved a construction bid in November for a long-awaited project replacing utilities on a section of Live Oak and repaving the street. Live Oak, which runs through several major streets such as East Street and FM 1660, has drawn frequent complaints from residents for its uneven pavement. “Live Oak is our main artery for
