Main St., Georgetown. 512-943-1100. www.wilco.org MEETINGS WE COVER CITY HIGHLIGHTS WILLIAMSON COUNTY The Commissioners Court voted Aug. 30 to adopt a $505 million budget for Žscal year 2022-23, which includes $5 million for 47 new full-time positions. The commissioners also set the tax rate of $0.378608 per $100 valuation, an amount that is $0.065 less than the current total tax rate. The rate will decrease property taxes on the average homestead residence by approximately $100 next year. TRAVIS COUNTY The Central Health board of managers approved its $300.75 million Žscal year 2022-23 budget Sept. 7. The budget increased more than $20 million from last year, funded in part by an increase in property tax revenue and tobacco litigation settlement, which together brought in $286.1 million. Central Health lowered its property tax rate to $0.09868 per $100 valuation—down from $0.11181. allocates $68.5 million to the general fund. It includes 44 new positions. It also has $110.5 million for water and wastewater projects, $36.6 million for transportation projects and $8.7 million for park projects. Leander City Council ratied a tax rate of $0.455262—a $0.024437 decrease from the FY 2021-22 tax rate of $0.479699—at its Sept. 15 meeting. By comparison, Cedar Park City Council adopted a $187.7 million budget and set a tax rate of $0.39 for FY 2022-23 at its Sept. 8 meeting. This is Cedar Park’s lowest tax rate since 1998, according to the city. The tax rate is a $0.042 decrease from the FY 2021-22 tax rate of $0.432. The budget allocates $74.8 million to the general fund, and includes $42.4 million for transportation proj- ects, $19.9 million for parks projects and $4.7 million for facilities projects. Under the budget, Cedar Park’s police department will launch a specialized mental health unit.

Cedar Park City Council green lights new purchase from Community Sculpture Garden

CEDAR PARK City Council approved purchasing the sculpture “Wings” by Kirk Seese from the Cedar Park Com- munity Sculpture Garden on Aug. 25. The city’s Parks, Arts and Commu- nity Enrichment Advisory Board said the piece is tting for Cedar Park’s per- manent collection due to its pleasing aesthetic and durable construction, according to city documents. Every year, city o‹cials select new sculptures that will be on display at the Community Sculpture Garden, which is located at 1435 Main St., adjacent to the recreation center. Several sculptures have been pur- chased by the city in the past, some of which are located at Milburn Park, the Sculpture Garden, the H”E”B Center and City Council’s meeting space. The “Wings” sculpture cost $7,500, according to city documents. This purchase will be funded through Cedar Park’s public art fund.

Twenty-ve sculptures were submitted for review for the 2022-23 display year. Board members evalu- ated them based on criteria such as aesthetics and variety. The board recommended seven selections and two alternates to City Council. One of the main selections was replaced with an alternate due

to encouraging plastic waste. Sculptures will be installed October 7-14.
